Mid Drive e-bike

Mid Drive e-bikes have the motor at the center of the e-bike.

They generally have more torque than in-wheel hub motors and allow for some innovations that are different to the usual e-bike, such as belt drive and in-motor gears, instead of a derailleur.

The higher torque allows for power at the wheels but still be within the legal power limit.

Their high torque can result in higher wear and tear if not driven correctly and they are more expensive to begin with.

And lastly, yes, they are a more expensive type of motor power.
